Thai airways serves you food! Even for just a 2 and a half hour flight! ,

There is a strange thing that happens when you live overseas. People take weekend trips to Vietnam or Japan or Korea or, in my case, Thailand. In the states this would be like taking a trip to Florida or California or just to a random city in the midwest. I never thought I would have the lifestyle of traveling to another country over a weekend, and yet here I am.

First of all…I want to say that I had a GREAT AWESOME FABULOUS time in Thailand. The weekend was filled with a lot of relaxing, wonderful pool and massage time as well as some more adventurous and interesting stories. Before I tell some of these stories, however, know that I am back in Hong Kong safe and sound….everything turned out just fine!

The trip down there was very pleasant and uneventful. We got picked up from the airport by Khun (Mr.) Sexith….also known as “Khun Sexyyyyyy!” He has been Marcia's driver for many years, so his name is not meant to be in a creepy way. Well, he was very nice…and to entertain two young American girls on the way down he put in some DVDs of music

videos. The DVD was labeled Best of Women artists…volume 15. It included videos from madonna, alicia keys, beyonce, lady gaga, etc. It also included some very very bad music and videos. Stuff that I don't actually think was popular in the US…or I just never saw it. Needless to say, it was a very nice way to start out our weekend trip.

We arrived at Marcia's condo in Hua Hin (about 2 hours from Bangkok) at around midnight. We basically just went to sleep. The next morning- Friday morning, like good little American tourists, we woke up at 8am to get the day started. Well, as it turned out…we were the only ones with that idea. And we would be for basically the whole trip. It is still rainy season in Thailand (more on that later) so we basically had everything to ourselves!

We started off the trip with hour long massages for about $5.00 (USD) woo! We had some yummy curry and made our way to the pool. The rest of that day involved laying by the pool, getting a pedicure, more pool, eating, showering, and heading into the town nearby. We went to the night market

(a large product market at night) and bought some fun items, and then headed to this well known Italian restaurant. I know, Italian in Thailand? But I was told we had to go there! It was delicious. When it was time to go home…we didn't really feel like waiting for 30 minutes for our shuttle back. Plus, we weren't 100% sure they were coming. It was 10:00pm and some nice young Thai gentleman were trying to sell us Taxi rides on the back of their mopeds. Well, in an effort to “live a little” we decided to try it. It was about a 35 minute ride on the back of a moped. For the first 10-15 minutes it was so great. Fresh air in your face, a little danger, beautiful night time. But then it just got a little uncomfortable to sit there. It was still definitely worth the trip.

The next day we were determined to go to the Elephant Village and ride elephants. When we woke up, however, it was raining and the sky was pretty dark. The town is about 20 minutes away, so we decided to try anyway. (“Who knows if it will be raining?”)

there?”) So we went! On our way…..we notice that the other side of the road is flooded with about 8 inches to a foot of water. Across the whole road. At this point though we were almost there. We arrived at Elephant village (safely, whew!) and surprise we are the only tourists there. go out and ride the elephant. Not only was it pouring rain. was thundering. We were on an elephant, in the middle of the Thai “jungle” holding an umbrella in a thunderstorm.

We made it safely back…..and just as we got off, the sun came out. We were totally soaked and cold, but the experience was definitely worth it…even in the tropical thunderstorm. The rest of the day was spent with more pool…(sun for a few hours!), massages, food, and another night time trip into town.

Pana's bar/restaurant

I think that is about all I will share from our trip. We had a great couple of days. I probably have a few more stories, but I think I have filled up enough of this entry.

I will also say that I am thankful that in the US we have rules and guidelines about road structure and height, etc. On our way back to Bangkok, after 2 days of heavy rain…..we were driving through water probably almost a foot deep. It's like those warnings you see on the news….don't drive in this! Well, that's what we were driving through for parts of our trip. I was VERY glad to make it “home” to Hong Kong last night!

If you want to know anything else about my trip just send me a message!

Enjoy the pictures and videos! Love you all!
