Kelly Ripa's emotions are a bit scrambled when it comes to her and Mark Consuelos' recent Architectural Digest home shoot.
The longtime loves allowed the magazine inside their New York City townhouse to show off their interior design skills, but one skill set Ripa, 54, didn't feel was accurately portrayed was her cooking.
“They were like, 'Kelly, we made scrambled eggs as if you had made scrambled eggs,' ” Ripa shared on the Dec. 11 episodes of Live with Kelly and Mark“And I looked at these scrambled eggs and was like, 'I would never make scrambled eggs like this.' Because I am very proud of my scrambled eggs.”
What was wrong with the stand-in eggs?
“These were dry. These didn't look right,” the mother of three noted. “They didn't look like any additives were in there. There was no soft cheese, there was no crème fraîche. They were nothing (like) the way I make the eggs, so I was very upset.”
Not only were the pre-scrambled eggs not up to par, Ripa and Consuelos, who are parents to kids Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 21, both admitted to being caught off-guard by the photographer Douglas Friedman's last- minute improvisation for their kitchen shot.
“Our friend Douglas, who is the photographer, threw two eggs on the floor, and I thought Mark was going to die,” Ripa quipped. “So that's like a real reaction. I was like, 'Ohh.' ,

The Riverdale alum, 53, agreed, sharing, “Yeah, I'm very particular about the house. And he's like, 'So we're going to throw a couple of eggs on the floor.' And I said, 'On whose floor?' He goes, 'Your floor, right here right now.' I short-circuited.”
In fact, the eggs were such a point of contention that Ripa felt the need to share in the Architectural Digest behind-the-scenes video that they weren't whipped up by her.
“When you see the eggs in the magazine, those are stunt eggs,” she insisted in the clip. “I did not make those eggs. My eggs are gorgeous. They are really really pretty.”
But despite that part of the shoot not going over easy, Ripa and Consuelos were pleased with how the magazine made their home look.
“Would you say it's the most glamorous version of the house ever?” Ripa asked Consuelos of the photo shoot on their talk show.
“Yes, they made it look good,” he agreed.
