Her name is Helena and she is a desert angel.

Hello Africa!!!
I arrived safely and relatively rested after my 24 hour Emerites journey. It was a thrill to fly with a full service airline after all those AirAsia flights. The free socks, eye mask, toothbrush and hearty meals (including wine) were not wasted on me!

everything went to plan and I checked into my backpacker's with ease. The next morning after breakfast I decided to use the Hop On, Hop off bus and for about $20 I took in the sights of Cape town. It was a glorious day and the commentary onboard was really interesting. My favorite stop was Camp's Bay, a beach where all the action is… but where the water is like ice.

Interestingly enough a young girl sat down next to me and we started chatting. Yes, of course the coincidences start already. We worked out we were on the same Intrepid trip. We buddyed up and decided to see Table Mountain. We took the cable car to the top and bravely walked down (my quad's are still killing me). It was a clear day and the views were out of this world beautiful.

That night I moved out of the backpackers and

into the Sassveld Lodge- the starting point of the trip. All group members arrived promptly at 6pm for our group meeting. After the meeting we had our first group dinner. I went for a salad as I wasn't sure how much fresh produce would be coming my way but others in the group were more interested in sampling the local cuisine and tasted ostrich, warthog and springbox.

Day one of the trip involved a trip out to the cape of Good Hope. There were whales splashing about below us and again, more spectacular scenery. Unfortunately for me, there were lots of windy roads and of course my first case of bus sickness. Thank goodness for Kwells.

We spent the night at Citridel, which as you can probably take from the name is citrus country. We camped in a lush field of orange blossoms which had the most devine scent. Dinner was beef stew and rice. Lots of veggies and fresh fruits. this makes me very happy.

Day 2 involved packing up the tents and breakfasting quickly for an 8am departure. We were wine tasting by 9am and spent the next 6 hours in the truck to make it across the border into Namibia by dusk. We are at a place called Felix Unite. An amazing camp ground in the middle of nothing. There is a swimming pool, bar, terraced grounds and the Oranje River below. Some of the group have gone canoeing but I am chilling out writing this!

There isn't a lot of internet access along our route so this means my entries are likely to be massive. I apologize in advance.
I am having the most amazing time, back in the groove of backpacks and new faces. One of the guys of the group said his highlight of yesterday was listening to me and another giggle our way through the tedious hours of busride yesterday. I do love traveling!
