I had not had a *real* vacation since April 2009, and I was going crazy for warm weather. Jason knew how badly I wanted to get away and gave me one of the best Christmas presents a girl could ask for – a CRUISE! I'm apologizing now for the lack of detail in this post as I'm actually writing this September 2010, I'm hoping the abundance of pictures will fill in the gaps!
The weather didn't cooperate much and it was by far the rainiest cruise I have been on (my 6th total!) but who can complain when they are on vacation?!?
We took Carnival's Fantasy ship on a 4 day cruise with a single stop in Cozumel. It was super windy and many of the excursions were cancelled. Luckily we didn't have one booked at all because I'd been watching the weather ahead of time. Instead we headed to 1/2 Senor Frogs at the port which has a small covered area and even a waterslide into the gulf for prettier days. The plastic tarp was just enough to keep the wind out as we danced and enjoyed the music and popcorn served out of dog bowls. The staff
worked hard to maintain morale and almost everyone in there had a different balloon hat concoction. (Some were flowers, lips, etc) Eventually the wind got so bad that we headed back to the ship and cut the day short.
The ship was neat. The pool area had a tropical feel with fake palm trees. There was even a lounge from a cat's perspective with oversized “products” like ritz crackers and various cans. I even won a medal for playing a word game while Jason took to the casino. (He came out ahead!) Unfortunately we were wiped out in the second round of corn hole. Maybe next time! I got to do a little line dancing also – there was a group of older ladies there with a dance group. (For those of you who don't know, I love to line dance and social dance also: West Coast Swing, two-step, etc.) If anyone bought the video from that cruise, they'll see me dancing along at the sail-a-way dance.
